On the morning of July 2, 2021, a team of detectives from the DCI and Kamukunji police station foiled a daring heist at Prime Bank's OTC located at Angle House along Ukwala lane in downtown Nairobi.
Charles Mulo, Fredrick Muderwa, Jesse Muriuki, Gabriel Mungai, and Reuben Njuka had planned to break into the bank by drilling through the wall, which they had cleverly disguised by booking guest rooms in the same building.
However, the detectives got wind of the plan and stormed into the building, forcing the suspects to take cover in the ceiling.
Despite their attempts to evade capture, the detectives brought the ceiling down, exposing the five suspects who clung to the roof trusses for dear life.
With no other option, the suspects surrendered, and the officers recovered several tools, including three hacksaws, a knotted twisted rope, a metal driller, five metal bars, a metal cutter scissors, and a suitcase.
