On July 2, 2021, a team of detectives from the DCI and Kamukunji police station foiled a daring bank heist attempt in downtown Nairobi.

Five suspects, identified as Charles Mulo, Fredrick Muderwa, Jesse Muriuki, Gabriel Mungai, and Reuben Njuka, were arrested as they attempted to break into Prime Bank's OTC branch located at Angle House along Ukwala lane.

According to a police report, the suspects had booked themselves into guest rooms at the building, which shares a wall with the bank, and planned to drill their way in during the night.

However, detectives got wind of the plan and intercepted the suspects, forcing them to take cover in the ceiling.

After bringing down the ceiling, the detectives exposed the suspects, who were clinging to the roof trusses for dear life.

The suspects were left with no option but to surrender, and the officers recovered several tools, including three hacksaws, a knotted twisted rope, a metal driller, five metal bars, a metal cutter scissors, and a suitcase.
