Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore Dies After Battling Leukaemia

Kenya has lost a business icon with the passing of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, who died at his home on July 1, 2019.

According to a statement from the company, Collymore had been battling leukaemia since 2017, when he traveled to the UK for treatment.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was among those who expressed their condolences, saying, "I have received with sadness the news of the passing of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore who was battling leukaemia."

Collymore was married to a Kenyan woman, Wambui Kamiru, just three years ago, and had left behind a wife and four children.

He was a highly respected figure in Kenya's business community, and his death has sent shockwaves across the country.
