July 2, 2021 - In a strongly worded submission to the seven-judge bench of the Court of Appeal, lawyer John Khaminwa has pleaded with the court to dismiss President Uhuru Kenyatta's petition contesting the Constitutional Court ruling on Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

The lawyer argued that President Kenyatta's disrespect for the judiciary is evident in his refusal to appoint six judges, including two who had dismissed the BBI process as unconstitutional and null and void.

Justices Professor Joel Ngugi and George Odunga had been recommended by the Judicial Service Commission for elevation to the Court of Appeal, but were left out by the President.
