On July 1, 2021, Capital FM took a satirical jab at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) by using the latter's new logo in its campaign for International Reggae Day.
The move came at a time when KBC had been trolled for re-launching with the new symbol, with some Kenyans terming it uncreative and not unique.
Capital FM's use of the logo prompted netizens to react and ask KBC to follow back with a statement, with one user joking, 'Respect your elders.'
However, moments later, KBC followed through with a comeback, with their graphic designer creating an inscription of Capital FM on their logo and a builder, wearing a KBC helmet, shuttering its glass.
The station's caption read, 'A new experience every day on KBC. Stay Tuned.'
Netizens praised KBC's response, with one user stating, 'This comeback tweet is on point. Capital FM Kenya please respond gently.'
According to Digital Strategist Brian Muuo, the teasing by the two media houses is a technique used to create light moments and entertain their audience.
