On June 26, 2021, a herder in Kajiado county was caught with a five-kilo carcass of a dik-dik, sparking a court case.
According to the charge sheet, Ladapash was herding his employer's goats when his dogs spotted the dik-dik and killed it. He claimed he tried to rescue the animal but it was already dead, and then decided to cut it into pieces to feed his dogs.
However, officers from the Kenya Wildlife Services caught him in the act, leading to his arraignment before Kibera court.
Ladapash denied the charges, and was granted a Sh100,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000. The case will be mentioned on July 14, 2021.
