Tecno Unveils Flagship Phantom X Smartphone in Kenya

On July 2, 2021, Tecno officially unveiled its 2021 flagship smartphone, the Phantom X, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Phantom X boasts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Phantom 8. The display also features a high refresh rate of 90Hz and a curved design, giving it a unique 3D borderless look.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset, 8GB RAM, and 256GB onboard storage. The Phantom X also features a 4,700mAh battery that can be quickly charged using the included 33W fast charger.

One of the standout features of the Phantom X is its five-camera setup, consisting of two 48-megapixel and 8-megapixel front-facing cameras and three 50, 13, and 8-megapixel rear cameras. The cameras are capable of capturing impressive low-light shots, timelapses in 4K, and slow-motion videos in 960 frames per second.

The Phantom X runs on HiOS 7.6, based on Android 11, and features Tecno's new voice assistant, Ella. Ella can perform tasks such as answering general knowledge questions, making calls, sending messages, and even turning on the FM radio with wired headsets connected.

The Phantom X is available in Kenya for Kshs 50,000 in online and physical stores countrywide. However, there was no mention of the Phantom X Pro at the event, which was recently listed on Google's list of supported ARCore devices.
