This archive report was first published on 1 July 2021.

On June 18, 2020, a man in Kakamega town paid Ksh150 for a commercial sex service, but the encounter turned violent when his wallet was stolen.

According to the man, identified by his initials S.A., he was beaten up by the sex worker and her colleagues, who accused him of refusing to pay. In the chaos, his penis was chopped off and thrown on the road.

The sex worker then reported the incident to the Kakamega police station, claiming that the man had refused to pay for the service rendered. Police officers arrested the man from his hospital bed and took him to court, where he was charged.

However, the accuser failed to appear in court for over a year, and on June 3, 2021, the man was finally set free.

Speaking to Nyakundi Report two weeks after his release, S.A. expressed his gratitude for being freed but lamented the loss of his manhood, saying, 'In as much as I won the case, losing my manhood really hurts.'
