July 1, 2021 - A growing health crisis is unfolding at Maseno University, where a significant number of students have tested positive for Covid-19.

According to reports, many of these students have refused to undergo quarantine, putting the lives of their peers at risk.

Student Martin Oyindo spoke to Ghetto Radio News, expressing concerns that the university has not done enough to ensure the safety of students and staff.

'We had a consultative meeting with the university administration, and it became clear that the majority of students who tested positive for Covid-19 neither quarantined nor followed Ministry of Health guidelines,' Oyindo said.

Another student, Edgar Akula, has appealed to the Kisumu County Government and the National Government to prioritize vaccination efforts at the university.

'To save the lives of university students, the government should at least provide vaccination,' Akula urged.
