On his second day in France, President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron to discuss key infrastructure projects in Kenya.

According to a State House brief, the meeting on July 1, 2021 focused on the progress of France-supported infrastructure projects in Kenya, including the expansion of the Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Road.

"President Kenyatta and his French host discussed the progress of key France-supported infrastructure projects in Kenya, including the expansion of the 233-kilometer Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Road whose construction is set to kick-off in September this year," the brief read.

During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed a public-private partnership agreement to expand the Northern Corridor road into a four-lane dual carriageway at a cost of Sh160 billion, which was reached during President Kenyatta's visit to Paris in October 2020.

President Kenyatta and President Macron also explored possible partnerships in the health sector and education sector, including building Kenya's capacity to manufacture vaccines locally and co-hosting the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Summit in London.
