US authorities have given a Kenyan mother, Margaret Gathaga, five days to arrange for the burial of her son, Evans Gathaga, who died in the US on May 25.

Evans' body has been lying in the morgue in Atlanta, Georgia, since his death, and the authorities have now given Margaret until Tuesday, July 6, to make arrangements for his burial.

According to reports, Evans' body was recovered from a creek close to his house by police officers a week after he was reported missing.

Police stated that Evans' body was in a really bad state and could not be transported to Kenya, so Margaret was advised to travel to the US to see her son for the last time.

Evans, who was an aircraft Engineer at Kenya Wildlife Service while in Kenya, had been living in the US as a truck driver.

“Authorities in the US are still investigating how Gathaga ended up in the river,” said Margaret. “I simply want to bury my son and get closure.”

Reports also indicate that Evans didn't jump but slid down as his shirt was caught on trees and twigs before falling into the river. A fisherman spotted his body later on and called the police.

Evans had allegedly sought help from Bishop Mwawasi, a Church leader based in Marietta, Georgia, saying he was seeing strange visions before his death.
