Preparations for the World Under-20 Championships are in full swing, with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) having finalized the process of securing bubble hotels for the global event. The event is set to take place from 17-22 August at Kasarani, attracting over 120 member federation countries with up to 1300 athletes expected to participate.
According to Mike Rabar, the World Under-20 LOC Chief Executive Officer, the LOC has secured hotels that will ensure the safety of athletes and officials during the championships period. The hotels management has signed a contract with the LOC, where the World Athletics family will be the only ones hosted in the designated hotels during the championships period.
Some of the hotels that will host the teams include Sarova Groups of hotels, Ole Sereni, Eka Hotel, The Boma, Sarova Panafric Hotel, Tamarind Hotel, and Crowne Plaza. All broadcasters will be accommodated at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies, while local technical officials will be hosted at the Stadion hotel.
Utalii Hotel along Thika road will host International Technical Supplies, and all accredited media personnel will be accommodated at Sports View Hotel. The World Athletics family, commercial affiliates, local organizing committee, and sponsors will be hosted at Safari Park Hotel.
Published on July 1, 2021, the LOC has taken necessary precautions to ensure the safety of athletes and officials during the championships period, which coincides with the COVID-19 pandemic.
