On June 30, 2021, Trulioo, an online verification company, announced its entry into the Kenyan market, marking its expansion into the African continent through its GlobalGateway platform.

Trulioo provides secure access to reliable data sources worldwide, enabling organizations to instantly verify consumers and business entities online. Its bank-grade online verification platform, GlobalGateway, helps organizations comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) requirements by automating Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) workflows.

The company supports global clients in instantly verifying over 5 billion people and 330 million business entities in more than 100 countries through a single API integration.

Kenya's strong financial inclusion and fintech leadership make it an attractive market for Trulioo. With 83% of its population having access to basic financial services, the country is at the forefront of financial innovation. The M-Pesa mobile money transfer platform, launched in 2007 by Safaricom, has almost 42 million users and 400,000 agents in seven countries.

According to Steve Munford, CEO of Trulioo, 'Kenya has outlined a bold vision to establish a strong digital economy, and it has been a driving force in the fintech revolution in Africa. Its leadership in digital payments usage is laudable, and I'm sure we'll continue to see more innovations stemming from its deep roots in fintech, as well as even greater participation in the digital economy.'
