On June 30, 2021, a local authority in Maseno, Kisumu county issued a stern warning to drug peddlers in Nyawita market, threatening to arrest them.

The warning comes after an outcry from the public that a former Maseno student, known as 'Ras', was selling bhang to Maseno University students.

According to West Karateng Chief, Martin Oyindo, drug peddling in the area has made it risky from 8pm.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio, Oyindo stated that he received a complaint from the community about 'Ras' selling bhang to students, and upon investigation, he found that 'Ras' also kept individuals with questionable characters.

Although Oyindo and his team arrested 'Ras', he was later released under unknown circumstances.

Oyindo vowed to ensure that all drug peddlers are arrested, citing the high consumption of bhang in the area as a threat to society.
