A Kenyan man living in the US, Keegan Oyugi, has been missing for two weeks before his body was found in his car on Tuesday, June 29.
According to the Minnetrista Police Department, Oyugi's car was discovered off Highway 101 in a badly damaged state after concerned residents alerted the authorities.
Oyugi was found in the driver's seat, still wearing his seatbelt. The police stated that his body matched the description of a missing person who had also been reported.
As the police await formal identification from the medical examiner's office, they expressed their condolences to Oyugi's family.
The family confirmed that the car belonged to Oyugi and met with the police to discuss the matter.
The Hennepin medical examiner's office has taken over the case for official identification.
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time, asking people to pray for them and give them space.
Oyugi moved to Minnesota in 2017 to attend Crown College, where he was also a member of the basketball team.
Before his disappearance, Oyugi had texted his brother in the early hours of the morning, saying he was coming home after a game.
