On June 29, 2021, the Minnetrista Police Department in Minnesota discovered the body of Keegan Oyugi, a 26-year-old Kenyan man who had been missing for over two weeks.

According to the police, Oyugi's vehicle was found off Highway 101 in Savage, after a resident reported seeing a badly-damaged red car in a copse of trees.

Police confirmed that the body found in the car matched Oyugi's description and was wearing the same clothes he had on when he went missing.

As the investigation continues, the police department expressed their condolences to Oyugi's family, stating, 'As we await formal identification from the medical examiner’s office, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Oyugi family.'

The Oyugi family has met with the Minnetrista Police Department and the BCA, who confirmed that the car found was Oyugi's and that he was the only occupant.

The family has requested privacy during this difficult time, stating, 'We request at this time you continue to pray for the Oyugi family and ask for privacy for the family - this is a really difficult and sad time for them, so let’s keep that in mind and allow them some space and time.'

Oyugi had moved to Minnesota in 2017 to attend Crown College, where he played on the basketball team.

His death comes just a month after another Kenyan, Evans Gathaga Muhia, was found dead in Georgia, USA.
