On June 30, 2021, Gor Mahia head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto was recognized as the May Kenya Premier League coach of the month.
Under his guidance, the defending champions achieved a flawless record in May, securing four wins in as many matches.
The team started the month with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nairobi City Stars at the Utalii grounds, followed by a 2-1 win over Sofapaka at their home ground.
They then edged Vihiga United 1-0 at the Mumias Sports Complex and replicated the same scoreline in their final match of the month against Wazito at Utalii.
Pinto's achievement earned him a customized trophy and a Ksh 50,000 cash prize courtesy of the league sponsor.
