On June 30, 2021, a woman identified as Vanessa Bwibo took to Twitter to share a video of a man she accused of admiring her in public.
According to Bwibo, the man was allegedly looking at her body and engaging in a lewd act while she was driving in Nairobi.
Although she was laughing while recording the video, Bwibo claimed that she had felt uncomfortable and even described the man's actions as 'disgusting.'
"Women deal with a lot in these streets of Nairobi, from catcalling to extreme cases of sexual harassment. What this man did to me was disgusting," she said.
The video clip has attracted hundreds of reactions, with many women condemning the man's actions and calling for him to be held accountable.
However, some men have questioned Bwibo's decision to record the man's actions and have even suggested that the distance between her car and the man made it impossible for him to see her thighs.
Despite the backlash, many have come to Bwibo's defense, with some even accusing those who are making excuses for the man of being insensitive to the experiences of women in public spaces.
