On June 29, 2021, the search for Keegan Oyugi, a 26-year-old Kenyan man from St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, came to a tragic end. His body was found in a vehicle accident in Savage, Minnesota, after he had been missing for 15 days.
According to Lillian Otieno, co-chair of the Minnesota Kenyans Association, Oyugi's family had met with the Minnetrista Police Department and the BCA, who confirmed that the car found was Oyugi's and that he was the only occupant.
Oyugi had last been spotted driving a red Ford Mustang with Kansas license plates in the Prior Lake area on June 12. He was heading home to St. Bonifacius, as indicated by a text he sent to his brother at 4:30 am that day.
His mother, Mirriam Oyugi, expressed her concerns when Oyugi failed to call her to wish her a happy birthday, which was unusual for him.
Oyugi was a former Kenya Ports Authority basketball player and had recently graduated from Crown College, where he played basketball.
