Uhuru Extends Nationwide Curfew Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

On June 29, 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the latest review of Covid-19 containment measures by the government in a live broadcast from State House, Nairobi.

The Head of State extended the nationwide curfew and announced that the 13 counties from the Lake Basin region will continue to observe a 7pm to 4am curfew until July 31.

For the rest of the country, the curfew will be enforced between 10pm and 4am for a further 60 days.

Additionally, the Kenyan leader prolonged the ban on political gatherings for two more months.

President Kenyatta also emphasized the importance of strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols during religious activities, except in the 13 counties where places of worship have been closed.
