Published on June 29, 2021, a recent visit to the Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga, also known as 'Kihumo kia Agikuyu' or 'Mucií wa Gíkúyú na Múmbi', revealed numerous magical and astonishing aspects.
At the heart of the site is a mysterious tree called Mukoe, which is said to be a cross-pollination of the Muhumo and Mukuyu tree. According to an instructor at the shrine, the tree has a unique feature - a picture of human male and female sexual organs.
"As can be seen, a full-blown female organ appears on the right side of the tree while the male organ sleeps on the left," the instructor described.
The instructor also revealed that part of the tree is believed to have healing properties, and its juice is said to be a cure for various conditions, including loss of appetite in children.
"You need to take a glass of this tree's juice two times and you will see positive results," the instructor said.
The site is monitored 24/7 to protect the tree, which is in high demand for those who know its secrets. Under the tree is where Gikuyu and Mumbi were said to have met, and it's a place people travel from across the Mt Kenya region for prayers.
