Shanzu United FC's quest for a big win in the Taifa Daraja Second Division League continued to elude them as they fell 1-0 to Ziwani Youth at Tudor Primary, Mombasa, on June 26, 2021.
Despite being coached by Mody Musa, a former player of Mafuko Bombers FC, Shanzu United failed to capitalize on their chances, allowing Ziwani Youth to take the lead through Yusuf Kamanza in the 8th minute.
Shanzu United's star striker Heri Juma had several opportunities to equalize in the first half, but his efforts were thwarted by the referee, Francis Mariga, who ruled out two of his goals.
As the second half got underway, Ziwani Youth's defense solidified, and Shanzu United's attacks were repelled, leaving them with nothing but a single point from the match.
Speaking to Taifa Leo after the match, Ziwani Youth's coach, Mselem Abdallah, praised his team's performance, saying, 'We played without our key players who were injured, and we managed to get this win despite it being a narrow one.'
However, Shanzu United's manager, James Sewe, attributed their loss to bad luck, stating that his team played well but lacked the necessary breaks.
Shanzu United will next face Tikki FC at Shanzu Teachers Collage, while Ziwani Youth will travel to Kilifi to face Bahari FC at Mtwapa Primary.
