June 29, 2021 - StarTimes ON, a leading digital TV operator's mobile application, is now available on VIDAA-powered Hisense smart TVs. This move marks a significant expansion of the streaming service's reach, offering users a premium viewing experience.
StarTimes ON combines live TV channels and rich Video On Demand (VOD) content, serving 27 million users and ranking among the top 5 entertainment apps in many territories on the continent.
VIDAA, a Linux-based open smart TV operating system, is preinstalled on new Hisense TVs as well as Toshiba Smart TVs manufactured by Hisense. Established in 2014, VIDAA has become a strong global contender in the smart TV platform space, with a revamped user interface introduced in 2020.
According to StarTimes Regional Marketing Director Mr. Aldrine Nsubuga, the online mobile application will continue to offer more than 150 local and international channels and 20,000 hours of on-demand programs covering various genres, including sports, movies, and news.

StarTimes ON streams content in various languages, including English, French, Portuguese, Swahili, Hausa, Hindi, Yoruba, and Chinese, providing users with access to live, replays, and key highlights of premium content at their convenience.
Subscribers can link their set-top boxes to the application, facilitating subscription payment through various channels, including Co-operative, KCB bank, Equitel, Mpesa, or Airtel money. They also enjoy a 5% discount on their monthly subscription fee and other self-service options.
