On 29 June 2021, Gor Mahia head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto was named the May Football Kenya Federation Premier League coach of the month.
Under his guidance, the defending champions achieved a perfect record in May, winning all four of their matches.
The team's impressive performance in the month included a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nairobi City Stars at the Utalii grounds, followed by a 2-1 victory over Sofapaka at their own backyard.
They also secured narrow 1-0 wins over Vihiga United at the Mumias Sports Complex and Wazito at Utalii Grounds.
Carlos Vaz Pinto edged out KCB tactician Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno for the award, with AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems completing the top three.
As the winner, Vaz Pinto received a customized trophy and a Sh50,000 cash prize courtesy of the league sponsor.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia will be looking to bounce back from their recent loss when they host Bandari at Utalii Grounds on Wednesday.
