Actress Meghan Markle, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, has been known by many nicknames over the years. But few know that her own mother, Doria Ragland, gave her a sweet nickname when she was a child.
According to Meghan's uncle, Joseph Johnson, Doria always called her 'Flower', a name that Meghan still uses today.
Speaking to Mail Online, Mr. Johnson from Fresno, California, shared the story of how Meghan's family reacted to her engagement to Prince Harry.
'All of us were just really, really stunned. Shocked. Especially Doria. She was so excited,' he explained.
'She was just saying 'My little Flower!' How can this be true? Unbelievable.'
As it turns out, Meghan's family aren't the only ones with lots of nicknames. The Royals also have their own unique monikers for each other.
The Queen, for instance, has been known as Lilibet, the name of Meghan and Harry's newborn daughter. Prince Philip would also call her Lilibet, as well as 'Cabage' or 'Sausage'.
Another strange nickname for the Queen is 'Gary', reportedly given to her by Prince William when he was a child and couldn't pronounce 'Granny' properly.
Prince William and Kate Middleton also share sweet nicknames, with the Duchess of Cambridge referring to her husband as 'baldy'. In return, William reportedly refers to his wife as 'DoD' - short for the Duchess of Dolittle - or 'Poppet'.
