On Friday, June 25, 2021, a 50-year-old man was arrested in Tana River County for allegedly sexually abusing his two daughters, aged 11 and 14.
The girls' teacher, Annah Bonaya, noticed a drop in their performance and encouraged them to open up, but they initially attributed their struggles to their parents' separation and household responsibilities.
However, the younger sibling eventually confided in the teacher, revealing that their father had been having sex with them on a routine basis.
Teachers at the school formed a team to catch the father in the act, accompanied by area chief Habiba Maro, and handed him over to the police after they stormed his house.
The girls were taken to the hospital for medical tests and were later reunited with their mother as they await justice.
Tana River Sub-County base commander Patrick Kafulo confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were underway, with further psychological tests ahead of trial.
