On June 29, 2021, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi shared his entrepreneurial journey, which included a significant loss of Sh11 million.
Speaking on the Wicked Edition hosted by Dr King'ori, Sudi revealed that he fell victim to a wash-wash business, where he was conned out of his life savings.
“I was conned out of all that money but I don’t blame the fraudsters because I was greedy. If you see anyone who has been conned it is because they were greedy and wanted to get rich quick,” the MP said.
Despite the significant loss, Sudi was able to recover the Sh11 million in just six months, thanks to his entrepreneurial skills.
“That is why I tell people to never lose hope in life. That’s why we are losing very many young people who are frustrated after finishing school. When you lose hope you can’t recover,” Sudi said.
Sudi's entrepreneurial journey began when he saved Sh21,000 for a whole year and then invested in a 7-acre farm, which earned him more than Sh120,000 after a year.
He then invested the money in his friend’s transport business, which handled fuel, and eventually bought his first matatu.
After purchasing 24 pool tables and stationing them in different urban centers in Eldoret, Sudi earned a significant income from each table, ranging from Sh1,000 to Sh2,000 per day.
He also ventured into the business of clearing and forwarding, and even sold land to prominent people, which further boosted his business.
On a personal note, Sudi revealed that he met his wife in the village after his first girlfriend left him for a man who was well off.
