On June 29, 2021, Kenyandigest published an interview with Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, where he shared his remarkable journey from losing Sh11 million to earning it back in just six months.
According to Sudi, he fell victim to a scam and lost the money, but he didn't blame the fraudsters. Instead, he took responsibility for his actions, saying, "I was conned out of all that money but I don’t blame the fraudsters because I was greedy. If you see anyone who has been conned it is because they were greedy and wanted to get rich quick."
Sudi, however, was able to recover the lost money in just six months. He attributed his success to his ability to learn from his mistakes and not lose hope. He said, "That is why I tell people to never lose hope in life. That’s why we are losing very many young people who are frustrated after finishing school. When you lose hope you can’t recover."
Before losing the money, Sudi had been involved in various business ventures. He started by saving Sh21,000 for a whole year, which he then used to invest in a 7-acre farm. The proceeds from the farm earned him more than Sh120,000, which he used to invest in his friend's transport business.
Sudi's business ventures continued to grow, and he eventually bought his first matatu and then 24 pool tables, which he stationed in different urban centers in Eldoret. The pool tables brought in a significant amount of money, with each table earning between Sh1,000 to Sh2,000 per day.
Sudi also diversified his business by charging people to pick their cars from Mombasa and learning the business of clearing and forwarding. He even met a friend who was selling land and joined him in the business, selling land to prominent people and earning a significant profit.
Today, Sudi is a successful businessman and a member of parliament. He has a wife and children, including one who is studying in London University.
