On a dramatic day in Bucharest, Switzerland stunned world champions France at Euro 2020, winning 5-4 on penalties after their last-16 tie had ended in a 3-3 draw.

Published on June 29, 2021, Kylian Mbappe, the star of France's World Cup triumph in 2018, had his penalty saved by goalkeeper Yann Sommer as Switzerland secured a historic European Championship knockout tie victory.

Haris Seferovic's goal in normal time was matched by Karim Benzema's brace and a Paul Pogba strike, but Seferovic's second goal and a Mario Gavranovic effort sent the match into extra time.
