On June 25th, 2021, the President appointed a selection panel to recruit five members for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Board. The panel is chaired by Thomas Koyier and includes Dr. Mary Gaturu, Charles Mutinda, Njoki Kahiga, Margaret Lilan, and Richard Kibagendi.

Public Service Commission Vice-Chairperson, Charity Kisotu, presided over the inauguration ceremony and urged the panel to abide by the values and principles of public service as prescribed in Article 232 of the Constitution.

"You are expected to observe high standards of professionalism, afford those who apply for the vacancies a chance to compete fairly, and exercise due care and skill to ensure that the right people get appointed," Kisotu said.

The Vice Chairperson also emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusivity, urging the panel to consider these factors in the selection process.

"I urge you to ensure high threshold of integrity, ethical standards and professionalism are met as you embark on this assignment," Kisotu advised.

The panel has been tasked with selecting five members for the TSC Board, and Kisotu urged them to start the recruitment process immediately, noting that a delay could impact the government's transformation agenda in the Education Sector.

"The education sector is the cornerstone of Kenya's development agenda and holds the key to the success of this great nation of ours," Kisotu said.
