On June 28, 2021, Citizen TV reported on the struggles of former Tahidi High actor Omosh, who was struggling to get by in Nairobi due to alcoholism and a begging spree. However, his former colleague Teacher Kilunda has taken a different path.
After the popular show ended, Kilunda relocated to his rural home in Kangundo, where he started a salon business in 2020. The sudden loss of income forced him to make a drastic change, and he admits that he had not made savings and investments to fall back on.
‘I can say it proved to be an abrupt decision by the management because we woke up one morning and our services were not needed,’ Kilunda said. ‘So I had to quickly devise ways to survive. The first thing was to relocate to this place. It took some time to adjust but I have come to love the place. My family is still in Nairobi but the village life is best. Food is fresh, with no pressure. I have no plans of going back to the city unless a job opportunity comes up.’
Teacher Kilunda is now planning to open a barbershop and other services in his village, and he is open to acting jobs and other opportunities. His story serves as a reminder that even in the entertainment industry, financial struggles can be a reality.
