On a typical day, Chris Kirubi would spend most of his time in his luxurious office at The Penthouse in International Life House, overlooking the Central Business District.

As a renowned businessman, Kirubi's office was a testament to his success, with exquisite leather furniture, a Bose music system, and a huge flat-screen TV.

However, beneath the surface of his opulent lifestyle, Kirubi was known for his narcissism and hubris, often boasting about his wealth and influence.

During an interview with a daily newspaper, Kirubi was asked about his beautiful office, to which he replied, 'Sit down, young man. What do you expect of me? We are the captains of industry in this country!'

Despite his wealth and success, Kirubi was unhappy that he was not considered Kenya's richest man, and he often took exception to being left off the Forbes list of Africa's richest men.

One notable example of Kirubi's narcissism was when he was approached by a former US Congressman and a former top IMF official to join an exclusive club of advisers to an international organisation.

However, when the proposal was made, Kirubi responded by saying, 'An honorarium? You mean I won't get paid? I don't do charity work. Look around this office: How many of you have seen a leather table like this one?'

Despite his flaws, Kirubi was a respected figure in Kenyan society, and his legacy continues to be felt today.
