Kenyan Lawmakers with Zero Parliamentary Contributions in 2020 ¶
Thirty-one Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Assembly and three from the Senate did not make any contributions on the floor of their respective Houses in 2020, according to a report by Mzalendo Trust.
The silent legislators include Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, and other prominent MPs.
While some of these MPs are vocal outside Parliament, their lack of contributions in the House has raised concerns about their effectiveness in representing their constituents.
Deputy President William Ruto Warns Against Tribal Coalitions ¶
Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned politicians against forming tribal alliances, saying Kenyans are wiser today and will reject such.
Ruto emphasized the need for leaders to come up with solutions to address the challenges Kenyans are facing, rather than relying on tribal politics.
He claimed that he was the only leader with a vision in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
BBI Appeal Case to Begin at the Court of Appeal ¶
The lawyers of various parties that have appealed against a High Court ruling that shot down the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) are preparing for the case to begin at the Court of Appeal on Tuesday.
The Appellate Court is expected to make two rulings on the same matter before the proceedings begin.
The case is a significant development in the BBI saga, which has been a contentious issue in Kenyan politics.
