The Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga shrine, located in Murang'a County, is a revered site for the Agikuyu community, dating back to ancient times.
On June 28, 2021, K24 Digital reported on the shrine's unique features, including a tree known as Mukoe, which is said to be a cross-pollination of the Muhumo and Mukuyu trees.
According to an instructor at the shrine, the tree has a remarkable feature - a picture of human male and female sexual organs is visible on its trunk.
"As can be seen, a full-blown female organ appears on the right side of the tree while the male organ sleeps on the left," the instructor explained, pointing out the tree's unique characteristic.
The instructor also revealed that part of the tree is believed to have healing properties, and its juice is used to treat various ailments, including loss of appetite in children.
Additionally, the instructor claimed that the tree's juice is essential in mending marriages, and taking a glass of it twice can lead to positive results.
The shrine is reportedly proctored 24/7 to protect the tree, which is in high demand among those who know its secrets.
Under the tree is said to be the spot where Gikuyu and Mumbi, the founders of the Agikuyu community, met, and it has become a place of prayer for many visitors.
