Diamond Platnumz's BET Awards Nomination: A Win for East Africa ¶
On June 28, 2021, the music industry gathered for the 2021 BET Awards, where East African artist Diamond Platnumz was nominated for the Best International Act award.
Although he did not take home the award, which went to Burna Boy, Diamond Platnumz's nomination was a significant achievement for East African artists, putting them in the same league as Western acts like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.
What's more, Diamond Platnumz represented the East African community well through his stunning Maasai cultural attire, which left everyone staring in awe.
Despite some fans feeling that he should have chosen a shorter wrapper and the real Maasai slides, Diamond Platnumz's designer had something else in mind, and the result was a truly stunning look.
