On Sunday, June 27, 2021, a tweet allegedly sent from NTV Uganda's official Twitter account claimed President Yoweri Museveni was in critical condition in Germany. However, the media house has since denied the tweet, calling it fake news.
According to a statement released by NTV Uganda on social media, the tweet was not sent from their official account and should be treated with contempt.
Senior Press Secretary to The President, Nabusayi Lindah Wamboka, also took to social media to confirm that the president was doing well and was even on his way to attend the Virtual World Health Summit.
It is worth noting that the news comes at a time when Uganda has been hit by a spike in Covid-19 cases, forcing President Museveni to re-impose a strict lockdown, including the closure of schools and suspension of inter-district travel.
