June 30, 2021, marked a crucial deadline for Football Kenya Federation (FKF) teams vying for a spot in the 2021/22 CAF Champions League. The team leading the table on this date would secure the sole ticket to represent Kenya in the continental club competition.

However, Gor Mahia's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League took a hit after they lost 2-1 to relegation-threatened Western Stima in their round 21 Football Kenya Federation Premier League match. This loss not only ended Gor's chances of securing the Champions League ticket by June 30 but also left them fourth in the standings with 38 points, six points behind league leaders Tusker and five behind second-placed KCB.

Tusker, with 44 points, and KCB, with 43 points, are now in contention for the Champions League spot. The two teams will face Ulinzi Stars and Nzoia Sugar, respectively, in midweek matches scheduled for June 30. A win for either team would seal their spot in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards revived their title ambition hopes after regaining ground on the top two teams with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bandari. This victory saw Leopards leapfrog defending champions Gor Mahia into third place with 40 points.
