Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has become a lone voice of loyalty to President Uhuru Kenyatta amidst a wave of defections from the Mt Kenya region to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) led by Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking at the Njuri Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Chuka/Igambang'ombe Constituency on Sunday, Governor Njuki emphasized the importance of seeking the people's support rather than relying on party popularity in elections.

He expressed confidence that the political shift in the region would not distract President Kenyatta from his development agenda, urging residents of Mt Kenya to focus on the benefits of this agenda.

"Since parties do not add any value to Kenyans, they should focus on development, not politics," Governor Njuki said.

He also asked Tharaka Nithi residents to consider re-electing him for a second term, regardless of the party under which he would seek re-election.

Governor Njuki and Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki are the only senior politicians from the county who have remained loyal to President Kenyatta.
