Published on June 27, 2021, Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S22 with a major camera upgrade. According to an insider, the primary camera will feature a significantly higher resolution, likely 50 MP, compared to the Galaxy S20's 12 MP.
After a relatively conservative approach to camera upgrades on the Galaxy S21, Samsung is expected to make a noticeable improvement with the Galaxy S22. This news comes from SamMobile, citing an insider on Twitter.
Galaxy S22 Camera Upgrade: 50 MP Sensor and More ¶
The 50 MP sensor will be a significant upgrade from the current 12 MP primary camera on Samsung's flagship smartphones. The ultra-wide angle and telephoto lenses are also expected to receive a resolution boost to 12 MP, matching the S21's specifications.
While the exact camera features and specifications of the Galaxy S22 are still unclear, it is expected to offer higher-quality images and improved performance. Samsung has already presented a new 50 MP sensor, which would fit perfectly into a smartphone flagship.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung will rely on its ISOCELL sensor or an IMX sensor from Sony for the Galaxy S22's camera.
