COVID Positivity Rate Declines to 6.9% in Kenya

On June 27, 2021, the Ministry of Health reported a decline in Kenya's COVID-19 positivity rate from 7.6% to 6.9% after 204 new cases were reported out of a sample size of 2,971.

Additionally, the Ministry reported 21 new deaths, all of which were late deaths that occurred in May and June. The total fatality toll stood at 3,595.

According to the Ministry, 44 more COVID-19 patients recovered from the disease, including 33 who were from home-based isolation and care. The recovery toll now stands at 124,436.

As of June 26, a total of 1,287,776 people had been vaccinated against the virus countrywide, with 28.5% of those who received their first dose also receiving their second dose.

The Ministry noted that the uptake of the second dose by priority groups was as follows: aged 58 years and above (83,536), others (76,792), health workers (68,067), teachers (35,503), and security officers (21,219).
