On Sunday, June 27th, Kenya's Ministry of Health reported 204 new Covid-19 cases, increasing the country's cumulative caseload to 182,597.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the new cases were identified from 2,971 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 tests to 1,943,037. The country's positivity rate stands at 6.9 percent.
Of the new cases, 198 are Kenyans, while six are foreigners. The age range of the new cases spans from a two-month-old infant to an 89-year-old individual.
The national death toll rose to 3,595 after 21 more patients succumbed to the virus.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that 44 patients had recovered, with 33 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program and 11 from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 124,436.
Currently, 1,051 patients are admitted in various health facilities, while 6,760 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. Additionally, 101 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 33 on ventilatory support, 53 on supplemental oxygen, and 15 under observation.
Furthermore, 114 patients are receiving supplemental oxygen, with 105 in general wards and 9 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
As of June 26th, a total of 1,287,776 vaccines had been administered across the country. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 28.5 percent, with the majority being males at 56 percent and females at 44 percent.
The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 1.09 percent. The uptake of the second dose by priority groups is as follows: aged 58 years and above (83,526), others (76,962), health workers (68,067), teachers (35,503), and security officers (21,219).
