On Sunday, June 27, 2021, Kenya's women's beach volleyball team made history by qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics after a thrilling win at the CAVB Continental Cup in Morocco.
The Kenyan duo of Brackcedes Agala and Gaudencia Makhokha staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Nigerian team of Amara and Franco 2-1 in the final. After losing the first set 17-20, Agala and Makhokha bounced back to level the tie, winning the second set 21-18.
With the momentum on their side, the Kenyan duo charged into the tiebreaker and emerged victorious, winning the set 15-10. Kenya's second team, comprising Phosca Kasisi and Yvonne Wavinya, also secured a straight-set win over their Nigerian opponents, Albertina and Nnoruga, with scores of 21-17 and 21-10.
