Naivasha residents and Subaru fans finally got their chance to let loose after the World Rally Championship (WRC) event on June 27, 2021. The event, which had not taken place in Kenya for 19 years, drew massive attention on social media, with many looking forward to the action.

However, due to heavy traffic caused by road closures, many fans were unable to attend the event. But the party didn't stop there. A consolation after-party event, dubbed the Dunda festival, was held at Baron Sports club Delamere, where revellers quenched their thirst and danced the night away.

The event featured a lineup of talented performers, including DJ Joe Mfalme, who got the crowd entertained with his reggae mixes, and the dynamic duo of Eric Omondi and MC Antonio, who brought the house down with their comedy skills. Mejja's electrifying performance was the highlight of the night, with the crowd going wild with chants and cheers.

For many, the Dunda festival was a much-needed break from the COVID-19 restrictions that had kept them from partying for so long. As one reveller, Barry Ochieng', put it, "This event was not worth missing. I am here after a long time of not partying since clubs and bars are mostly closed due to COVID-19."

Despite initial fears that the event might turn out like the Masaku sevens, which was banned due to misbehavior, the revellers were surprisingly disciplined. As Wangui Mwangi noted, "There was a fear that this event will turn out to be like the Masaku sevens one that was done in Machakos county some years ago. People really misbehaved, leading to its ban. But for this, people were a bit disciplined."
