On June 27, 2021, Kenya's women's beach volleyball team made history by qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics after a thrilling win at the CAVB Continental Cup in Morocco.
Kenya's first team, comprising Brackcedes Agala and Gaudencia Makhokha, staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Nigerian duo of Amara and Franco 2-1. The Kenyan pair lost the first set 17-20 but bounced back to level the tie, winning the second set 21-18.
Agala and Makhokha's determination paid off as they emerged victorious in the tiebreaker, winning 15-10 against the Nigerian team's resistance.
Kenya's second team, Phosca Kasisi and Yvonne Wavinya, also made a strong statement by beating the duo of Albertina and Nnoruga in straight sets of 21-17 and 21-10.
