Sebastien Ogier, the French World Rally Championship (WRC) driver, has made history by winning the WRC Safari Rally. The victory came after a remarkable comeback from a damaged rear damper on the opening day.

Published on June 27, 2021, at 5:35 PM EAT, the rally saw Ogier's determination and skill pay off as he secured the top spot.

"It's been an amazing experience to be here. The support we got from the people here is incredible. There was a huge amount of people cheering for us on road sections," Ogier noted.

He added, "It's a great win for us. After our troubles on Friday, we had a really good weekend. We had really good pace and the car was amazing."

Japanese driver Takamoto Katsuta secured the second position, while Estonian Ott Tanak finished third and salvaged some points for the Hyundai team.

"This rally, my approach was like 50 to 60 per cent maximum, not do any mistakes and be as smooth as possible. It's a shame Thierry couldn't work it out. Let's see - now we go back to Estonia, so it should be fun," Tanak said.

The WRC Safari Rally was a challenging event, but Ogier's perseverance and skill ultimately led to his historic victory.
