On June 25, 2021, a police officer in Kayole, Nairobi, was arrested and taken into custody after a report was made alleging he had defiled a 16-year-old girl.
According to preliminary medical reports, the girl was washing dishes in her home when the officer, Sergeant David Kaperio, allegedly pounced on her.
Investigations are ongoing, and the officer will be arraigned in court on June 28, 2021.
Kayole DCIO Rioba Gisiri stated that the allegations of defilement cannot be confirmed until the girl's age is established through a birth certificate or age assessment.
