Nairobi Introduces Parking Fees in Estates

On June 27, 2021, Nairobi County announced plans to introduce parking fees in estates, as part of its Finance Bill, 2019.

The city has been demarcated into three zones for the collection of parking revenue, with Zone I, the central business district (CBD) and Kijabe Street, charging Sh. 400 as a daily parking fee, up from Sh. 200.

Zone II, which includes areas such as Westlands, Upper Hill, and Ngara, will pay Sh. 200 daily, while Zone III, comprising all other commercial centres, will pay Sh. 100.

According to a report, the total car parking space in Nairobi's city centre is 14,864, with 3,941 on-street parking slots and 7,089 building parking slots.
