Kenya Reports 508 New Covid-19 Cases, 18 Deaths

On June 26, 2021, Kenya's Ministry of Health announced 508 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country's total caseload to 182,393.

According to a press statement issued in Nairobi by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the new cases were derived from 6,664 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests to 1,940,066. The country's positivity rate now stands at 7.6 per cent.

Of the new cases, 486 are Kenyans, while 22 are foreigners. The age range of those infected spans from a one-year-old infant to a 105-year-old individual. The cases comprise 299 males and 209 females.

Kenya also reported 18 more deaths, bringing the total toll to 3,574. Kagwe announced that 539 patients had recovered from the disease, with 296 recovering from home-based and isolation care and 243 from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 124,392.

There are currently 1,037 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,750 patients are in the home-based isolation and care programme. Additionally, 101 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 33 on ventilatory support, 52 on supplemental oxygen, and 16 patients under observation. Furthermore, 117 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 108 in general wards and nine in High Dependency Units (HDU).
