According to the police, the deceased had allegedly fallen out with an aspiring candidate for a political seat in Kibwezi, in the forthcoming general elections. The suspect, Amos Kyondu, is believed to have been involved in the altercation that led to Mutuku's death.
The other two suspects, Abdullahi Wako, an AP officer attached to CIPU in Kitengela, and Abed Musembi, an employee of Kenya Power and Lighting Company, based at Kitengela, are also being questioned by the detectives. Homicide detectives have been investigating the matter and have arrested the three suspects for being persons of interest in the murder.
On the evening before the attack, Mutuku had joined three friends, Charles Mulei, George Mutisya, and Abed Musembi, at Club DK in Mlolongo, for drinks. However, after leaving the club, Mutuku failed to return home as promised, and his girlfriend received a call from him the following morning, informing her that he had been attacked by unknown assailants and was at Shalom Hospital in Athi River.
Despite receiving medical treatment, Mutuku succumbed to his injuries. The DCI is currently interrogating the suspects to determine the circumstances leading to the attack and their possible involvement in Mutuku's death.
