Published on June 26, 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed a nine-member panel to recruit five new commissioners of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The panel, led by Thomas Koyier, will comprise Mary Gaturu, Charles Mutinda, Njoki Kahiga, Margaret Lilan Geneo, Richard Kibagendi, Hellen Hazel Misenda, Eva Naputuni Nyoike, and Stanley Waudo.
The recruitment process aims to replace Commissioners Beatrice Adu, Mbarak Twahir, Kinoti Imanyara, Albert Ekirapa, and Tache Gollo, whose terms expired on March 19.
The panel will prioritize regional balance, gender balance, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the recruitment process.
The move is expected to hasten the reconstitution of the teachers' welfare agency, following the appointments of Chairperson Jamleck Muturi and four other members in May.
